Under the Distance Selling Regulations you have 7 days to cancel your booking and get a full refund. Diesel Models break UK trading laws may try to fob you off saying it is a leisure activity but this is not true as their website clearly states they are offering a modelling service - you are entitled to a full refund of your deposit - normally £50 but if you dont cancel then you lose your deposit and have to pay an extra £135 to Diesel Models on top if you don't turn up to your appointment - so thats a total of £185 with no photos :(

If Diesel Models refuse to give you a refund of your deposit then call your credit card company and say that they have broken the distance selling regulations. if enough people complain about diesel models then they may have their credit card licence removed. Complaints about Diesel Models in London. This post was on Yahoo answers that quoted my website so they allowed me to use it. Here are a few Diesel Models complaints, lies, feedback myths and fabrications by their staff in London to clear up:

1) Diesel Models in London pay for your photo shoot

Not true. They own the photo studios they send you to so no money changes hands except from you to them to pay for your photos.

2) Diesel Models photo shoot is free?

Not true. You have to pay up to £800 for your photos depending how much you knock them down. Their website lists their charges and fees but not the cost of the photos. £50 Booking deposits are only refundable if you show to your
appointment, and not under any other circumstance. If you don't turn up or decide to cancel you will be charged £135 as well (total of £185 if you can't make it for any reason)

3) Diesel Models work for glossy magazines?

Not true. Would a photographer who does shoots for Vogue really spend their days churning out identical photos for wannabe models? Diesel Models staff claim this but have never provided any proof of which magazines or which photographers.

4) Diesel Models have selected me for a shoot in London?

Not true. Diesel Models are a photo studio in London (Pure space, blue rooms, sugar rush) and anyone will be chased up to go for a shoot as that is how they make their money. Diesel employee sales staff in their call centre to book people in for shoots - they are on commission so if you don't book they don't get paid so they will say anything that gets you to pay up.

5) Diesel Models find models work?

Not true. Diesel Models are not an agency so do not find work. They tell everyone they can be a model so that they sell more photos.

6) Diesel Models portfolio is suitable for a model agency?

Not true. The quality of photos taken by Diesel Models studio (Blue Rooms/Pure Space/Sugar Rush) are not suitable for use by a modelling agency.

7) Diesel Models send you to a top fashion studio?

Not true. The studio they send you to is owned by THEM! All 3 of their studios claim to be London's top fashion studio and none of them do any work other than photos of new models so can hardly claim to be a proper studio. I can't believe the number of questions asking if Diesel Models is a scam or not. There are so many complaints out there about Diesel Models that they have a firm of lawyers sending out messages every day to get complaints about diesel models/blue rooms removed from websites. Which must cost them a fortune so it shows how much money they are making from conning models into buying rubbish portfolios.
Diesel Models IS a scam! Diesel Models are not a modelling agency, so why don't they change their name? Why do they run Google ads saying they are a model agency - scam, con, you name it but its no wonder there are so many diesel Models complaints out there when they are con artists.

Diesel models agency con people into paying for portfolios of rubbish quality which they then say is vital for getting into the modelling industry. This is a blatant lie: NO reputable agency wants or needs a portfolio, so why waste your money on one? They trick people into thinking that Diesel Models is legitimate when really it's not. My advice to you would be to check my profile and view similar questions on this: Diesel Models is a scam. There is no reason for you to need a portfolio if you're plannning on getting into modelling, as top modelling agencies confirm.

Although Diesel Models claims not to be a modelling agency, it is still exploiting hopefuls dishonestly and misleading, tricking and deceiving them into paying hundreds and hundreds of pounds for photoshoots of questionable quality. You're honestly better off keeping the money, because no matter how much money you spend (waste) with them, you honestly won't get far.

'The Zebra Collection' was exposed on BBC Inside Out recently, and they (and numerous other rogues) function in exactly the same way as Diesel Models. They will tell the wannabe model that they'll get them into the industry, and then mysteriously, as has been the case with thousands of innocent victims, suddenly deny they ever said that. They also claim they don't force you to pay for the photographs, but they have tactics nonetheless and they will keep your photographs for their own dishonest use (as they'll reserve copyrights etc).

Diesel Models are posing as normal people on this site; if anyone tells you to go for it, ignore them- it's a liar working for Diesel Models, distorting reality, confusing and luring you into a false sense of security.

This may all sound shocking, but as an online campaigner, I can't simply sit back and let you blow your money on a rogue photography company.

Please visit the sites below and type 'Diesel Models scam' into Google- the facts are clear unless it's preprepared garbage from Diesel Models employees (who need to earn money honestly in my opinion). They've also been named and shamed...

To get into modelling, never pay a fee for anyone or anything, regardless of what they say it is for. This is a trap many people fall into. Look for local modelling agencies and see how they work, and check the Association of Model Agents for a list of genuine agencies. A genuine agency will want to see you in person and take a couple of snapshots, and take it from there if interested with THEIR OWN money...you shouldn't have to pay anything, because that suggests they're not making money, which in turn means you won't get any work!

i went there today with my daughter filled in a form where i stated i wanted 2-3 on disk cause that was my budget i then got told the min portfolio package is 8photos £300

i was asked to leave as i couldnt afford that much and it was a waste of there studio time if i was only spending £150 so diesel models are a scam

I took my girlfriend there and we got emotionally blackmailed to pay £500 for pics of a really questionable standard. I took her to storm studio nearby and they told her they don't accept portfolios if you're not even part of an agency. She was told to join an agency first which would accept her and not charge any fees.

DON'T DO IT!

I was tricked into thinking this would be of benefit to me, I stupidly booked a photo shoot without doing research. Diesel models is literally a photographic studio, and a crappy one at that!
i managed to get out of there without buying the pictures but that was only because my dad was there to help. The people were rude to me and they say the shoot is 4 hours but it only took 1, the rest of the time is spent trying to sell you the pictures.
First they offered me 8 pictures for £400 but suddenly when I argued they knocked it down to £200.
the pictures were not to a high standard and would not get you modelling work!
please please please anyone considering it, don't.

If your interested in modelling I had a great experience at The London School of Modelling, they do a FREE trial day which is about 1000000x better. And a model I spoke to there said she would never work with diesel models, and she's been in the industry for many years.

oh and the photographer went out to buy his lunch half way through the shoot and left me sitting around waiting for him to come back.

Is diesel models a scam? Looks like Diesel Models are at it again : trying to con wannabe models out of their money by pretending to be a modelling agency when they are just a photo studio. I had my portfolio done there about 6 months ago and I have fantastic job offers from modelling agencies thanks to the amazing portfolio I had done there. The pics where top quality. Regarding price. They charged me £750 for all my pictures and it got me no work.. Have a look at a few on my profile.. They were telling me they were really excited for me. They are not an actual place where they offer you work, they didn't tell me untill i had them all done that i had to pay for my portfolio.. They tell you to find your own work and go through them so they get a percentage o your wages you earn :(

Well according to Pure Space studios they are. And according to Blue Rooms, they also are! And indeed new studio Sugar Rush is also claiming to be London's leading studio with 10 years experience despite only opening in June 2009 - thats creative numbers for you!!

How can this be? Simple really, they are all the same company! In fact they have gone through so many different name changes that they dont even seem to be able to remember who they are themselves! The Pure Space studios website refers to them as Fusion Studios, rather a careless mistake missed by their designers which has been on their site since 2005!!

The reality is rather different - none of these have any connection with being a top fashion or photo studio as they are all names that Diesel Models use for their portfolio mill churning out expensive photo shoots to new potential models.

Diesel Models staff are regularly posting on Yahoo answers to promote their fake agency and try to persuade potential models that they are genuine. Stupidly they use the same Yahoo accounts to post questions and answers which leads to the kind of exchanges below

If you have been offered a shoot then they wont tell you up front that this is what you pay

£50 Booking deposits are only refundable if you show to your appointment, and not under any other circumstances.

Booking deposits are refunded only in the form of a discount on your order, or, if no additional order is made by cheque within 14 days.

All clients under 22 years old must be accompanied by a parent, unless cleared with studio management.

If you fail to show,or cancel your appointment less than 3 working days before your appointment in writing, you will be charged a studio hire fee of £135.

You may only rebook your appointment up to a week before the appointment, thereafter a further £50 deposit will be taken and added to the existing £50 deposit.

You've heard it all on the news, bankers and their bonuses! well the reality is different for us at the sharp end - no bonuses and its us who have to take the flack from angry customers.

Moans about not getting any interest on their account anymore, wines about all the money that the gov have put into the banks, you name it we get the lot!

So next time think about who you are moaning to - we cant do anything about it and are as gutted as you about the bonueses the big cheeses get as we get none!

Diesel Models/Sugar Rush Studios

My daughter recently applied to Diesel Models on their website. She was over the moon to be accepted and was offered the opportunity for a shoot at Sugar Rush studios in London. As she is only just 16 I went with her to the shoot to make sure all was ok.

When we got to the Sugar rush studio in Great Titchfield street they seemed in a bit of a rush as they got her makeup and hair done but they then wanted me to leave while she had the photo shoot. I wasn't happy about this as she is only 16 but they insisted it would make her more relaxed and i could go shopping on oxford street. As it was a female photographer i finally relented and went off shopping.

When i got back to the studio the shoot was finished and she was waiting for me. we were taken into another room to look at the photos and i was shocked to find that the photographer had taken shots of my daughter in her underwear. She was flattered especially when all they kept saying was that she would be perfect for glamour modelling. I was uneasy but I assumed they knew what they were doing and they would be advising on the best work for her. We then had the hard sell to buy all the pictures but in the end we left with a few photos after they dropped their prices a lot.

After the shoot she applied to some glamour agencies but was told that legally she had to be 18 to apply for glamour modelling, that the photos were not suitable for an agency and would be out of date when she was 18 anyway. I was horrified to find out that she shouldnt be doing glamour work and the agency told me the photographer could be breaking the law. She is only 16 for gods sake but Diesel models were saying glamour was her only option! She looks up to Jordan and wants to be a model like her but I dont want her flashing her boobs to everyone :(

Since then we've not had any contact from Diesel Models, the "helping hand" they say they offer seems to only extend until you pay them money for the photo shoot - after that they are not interested.

I did some digging around on the internet and it appears that Diesel models isnt actually a modelling agency. I now see on their website that it says they don't find models work but we didn't know that beforehand. I also read on one reply that Sugar Rush studios and Diesel models are the same company and also own The Blue Rooms Studios.

I'm talking to trading standards about this as I'm not happy that they shot my daughter in compromising poses Samantha Bond said were inappropriate for a 16 year old and pretended to give advice about modelling but all they really wanted to do was to get me to buy an overpriced photo shoot.
